| - I'ma go with "A-OK" in regards to this indoor swapmeet. Three stars ain't nothin' t'sneeze at. It's fun. There's a couple hours worth of wanderin' to be had if you pace yourself right. Really, though, I'm posting this review for "KBD NOW" which is booth I-28, I believe. If it's not, either I'll come back and make an edit or you'll figure it out when you get there. Anyway 3 stars for the place as a whole and a solid 4 stars for KBD now. Like that...
Y'all know how the indoor swap meets go. Big-ass open space, aisles and rows of booths/kiosks/people sellin' stuff. Some fancier 'n others. Smell of various 'n sundry food-stuffs in the air. Bit crowded. And here comes the non-descript vendor-space of all non-descript vendor spaces, and maybe the smallest one t'boot: KBD NOW. CASEY RANDALES, owner of KRATOM BY DESIGN (hereafter, KBD), targets yours-truly as a potential customer by offering up an informative-looking brochure folded in thirds...AND a free sample of a fine green powder in a small vacuum sealed Mylar envelope. I heard somewhere that big things come in small packages. Let's learn somethin'...
What did I know of Kratom? It sounds like a place where some kind of super-hero might'a been born, but honestly - I knew zero. The natural opioid (not opiate) has been utilized within Eastern medicine for centuries to treat a variety of health problems, improve mood, relieve pain and increase worker production - as per the afore mentioned brochure. So what we got ourselves here, and what the kindly Mr. Randles is making available for purchase at kiosk I-28, is essentially a wholly plant-based mood-enhancer with the potential to remedy whatever ails you.
So the question is, what do we do first? Do we slam the whole packet of powder, read the brochure, or chop it up with Casey? I took the high road and had a nice face to face convo with the proprietor of KBD who gave me such a thoughtful and knowledgeable rundown of his product and what to do with it that I had a vested interest in both Casey and his business immediately. What's not to like about a naturally sourced leaf-powder not unlike green tea that helps you feel good and can be sold over the counter at a swapmeet? Anyway - Casey over at the KBD kiosk at Fantastic is cool and if you're inclined to do business with cool people, go talk to him yourself.
But what about the powder???
Mmm...exciting.
If you're familiar with any kind of green super-food in powdered form, then the taste and texture of Kratom is something you're already familiar with and it shouldn't be too much of a challenge to work KBD into your every-day nutritional routine. Basically, you pour a couple, two-or-three grams in a cup with some water or juice and knock it back. Make sure you get all of it and don't leave any powdery clumps at the edges of the glass. IMHO Casey over-emphasized the idea that the taste might be a bit unpleasant - but that's to his credit because there are people out there who are big sissies. It's quite easy to drink, anyway, and anything like an aftertaste would be washed away with an extra sip of OJ or root beer or even water. So you can skip any skeptical jitters in regards to flavor/taste/texture etc. I did as instructed and poured about a third of my trial-sized packet (again, given to me for free by Casey) into some lemonade, stirred a bit with the straw and drank it down. About thirty minutes later I noticed a subtle but marked increase to my overall mood characterized by peace, serenity, and I'd even go so far as to say an enhanced awareness. Make of this assessment what you will, but trust when I tell you there is something "quite nice" about KBD. I don't know that the effects lasted more than four hours, but then again I'm a big dude and I probably could've added another gram or two to my initial sampling of KBD and been totally okay/functional/peacefully "enhanced" etc. Having tried the product twice now, with a subsequent drink the following day, and upping the dosage just a bit, I can state definitively that there are no negative side-effects of any sort, and that KBD is ideal for persons interested in plant-based supplements which bring about feelings of peace and clarity. I would recommend KBD to anyone suffering from any kind of stress, to people who find they are struggling with their ability to focus at work, and certainly to any person with such lofty aspirations as love, peace and harmony on their earthly agenda. If you're a tea drinker, this would be the occasional replacement. If you're health-conscious and driven, this stuff keeps you calm and yet doesn't eat away at your motivation or enthusiasm. KBD is good - in a word. I like it. If you're in Vegas try'n pry yourself away from the craps table, head on over to Fantastic Indoor Swap meet 'n go get you some. Bring Casey some flowers or a poster or lava lamp or something while you're there. His booth is real humble.
