| - This will be my final review in a much-updated series of reviews.
I have moved. The new place I rented is so much nicer (although smaller) than Scottsdale Springs/Denim Scottsdale, that it is hard to relive the memory. I can't believe I stayed so long. I am back at the beach, so rents are higher but even still, the property here is so well maintained and around the same age that it isn't even comparable.
Brad especially, but all of the staff at these Denim Scottsdale apartments, were awesome. They're very professional and quick to respond. I enjoyed all of them and they were always kind and respectful and fun.
That being said, there is almost no other reason to move there. For one, you're now forced to tell people you live in "Denim Scottsdale" which is neither cool nor trendy sounding - it is baffling that they selected that as the name. Why not Polyester Scottsdale? Or Plaid Scottsdale? Whoever came up with that? WTH?
There seems to be perpetual construction and it is incredibly inconvenient to anyone who tries to live. We were there for over two years and it NEVER improved. It was always dust and promises of some great developments. But we went from 4 pools to three to two tiny pools and no parking and dirt and noise and no improvement. Then a new owner or manager would take over and the BS continued or started over.
The apartments are getting some cosmetic Facelifts and that's cool. But new carpet and paint doesn't fix the terrible insulation and old windows that basically allow hot air to blow in all summer - expect ridiculously high utility bills. Mine was constantly around $500 in the five months of summer. Half in the winter. You can feel the heat from outside baking through the walls and windows and blowing around the door frame.
Dog shi- is the fragrance you will enjoy over the entire property. They seldom empty the garbage cans and with the heat and the feces from a thousand dogs, the smell is indescribable. It blows all around in a hot smelly thick haze combined with construction dust. I can't express enough how horrific it was. I ended up complaining constantly, and I don't want to be that person. No one does. It was just so bad that I was compelled to complain when you watch dog shi- from its birth to the point of turning white, or walking past garbage cans overflowing for days that reeked so bad you'd run, even in 120 degrees, just to get past them.
Generally I would say hat the area is awesome - close to parks, golfing and Old Town. The staff is great. Fellow renters are sketchy - some are cool, but there is a fair amount of very sketchy residents. Speaking to the Scottsdale Police, apparently they consider the complex to be the worst in the area for crime and complaints. The rent is inflated for how rundown the property is. So that's my final say. Hopefully it improves, but I NEVER did in the time they kept promising us it would.
