We walked in, hot and tired after our trip to the Desert Botanical Garden. I ordered the lamb sandwich. My husband ordered the red chili stew and frybread. I am not sure why people complained about the huge amount of time that others experienced as we did not wait too long for our food. Service was polite. We did come in at a weird time, possibly 2 or 3 pm for lunch. Only a few people were dining. Perhaps the complaints were during the height of the lunch hour, like noon or 1 pm.
I loved my lamb sandwich. My husband liked his chili, although ordering a hot chili on a hot day was sort of like ordering ice cream when it snows. It made him very hot and sweaty. Good thing we had iced tea.
I thought the frybread in my lamb sandwich was good. My husband thought the chili was just OK. The frybread was decent in his opinion. When he was paying for the food, he noticed that they sold the Navajo Times, so he snatched a dollar bill from me to pay for it. He's a big newspaper junkie. I understand. You don't get the Navajo Times from any newspaper box on the street. It's only in Navajo Country, so you have to buy it when you can. I think he was more delighted to get the newspaper than to eat the chili there. Oh, well, at least I enjoyed my sandwich. I'd go there again just for the lamb sandwich.
