| - I've been shopping here for about 4 years. Older store, but well maintained. Good selection, but not always well stocked. Frequently need to go to another store to find brands I buy regularly. Prices range from average to high, even for club members. All staff are friendly and helpful. I shop here primarily because it's the closest grocery store to my home.
That said, I'll probably drive a mile down the road to a competitor from now on. I frequently get hit up by panhandlers in the parking lot; not sure my car is safe while I'm shopping. The clientele at this Safeway location is mostly older and very slow checking out. I'm in my 60s, so I'm no young hipster, but I know the drill. Unload cart, swipe card, say thanks, and move on. Not so with many Safeway patrons at this location. Card readers puzzle them. Or they take 15 minutes gathering all the documents to write a check. Then they quibble about prices and expired coupons. Yikes! I switched lines 3 times today because I was stuck behind shoppers who thought the price they were being charged was wrong. Spent 30 minutes to pay $36 for my groceries. This used to be an occasional problem, but seems to be happening on every trip lately.
For those of us who enjoy a faster shopping experience, a Self-Checkout line would be appreciated. Or open an Express Lane for people who know how to use credit card readers and won't quibble about the price. I can drive another mile to shop if it means I don't have to wait in line beyond chronic complainers.
