  • I went to this Maxi & Cie grocery store recently since they had a special on a few items that I normally buy. I'm the type of shopper who will go to different grocery stores to buy different things depending on the prices as opposed to always going to the same grocery store. You can go to this Maxi & Cie if you're driving westward on Marcel-Laurin Blvd or if you're driving eastward without making any illegal turns since entry into the Maxi & Cie's parking lot from either direction is allowed. I hate it when you can only enter a grocery store's parking lot if you're driving in one direction on a two way street. This is not the case for this Maxi & Cie store. It has ample parking and it also has self check-out terminals. I will generally use the self-check-out terminals since I find them very convenient. The one thing that bugs me about this Maxi & Cie is that they have a locking mechanism for their grocery carts which requires that you insert a coin (I think it is a loonie) to unlock the mechanism and when you return the grocery cart and lock it back in, your coin is ejected from the locking mechanism. I guess they use this to save on costs since patrons are locking the grocery carts in the designated areas as opposed to just leaving them scattered around in the parking lot. When I go grocery shopping, I will normally pay by credit card and sometimes I don't have any loonie with me so I find having to use a loonie to get a grocery cart to be very inconvenient. I managed to get the items that I was looking for at this Maxi & Cie grocery store so no complaints there. Even if I wasn't able to get what I wanted, it would depend on when the item went on sale before I would deduct any stars from my rating. It is a typical grocery store and I didn't see any issues or have any problems beyond having to insert money (deposit) to remove/use a grocery cart which as I mentioned I find it very inconvenient since I almost always pay by credit card and I might not have a loonie with me to unlock the grocery cart mechanism.
