Finally got a chance to try Wong's Ice Cream. Located in east China town, Wong's specializes in Asian flavours and has fairly creative creations. The price point is a little on the higher side - one scoop for $4.50 and two scoops for $7.50 - but the scoops are fairly generous. The staff are really patient and nice and you're able to try all the flavors if you wish. Space wise, there are a few stools near the front and a small couch on which to sit but I wouldn't say it's a place to hang out all night long.
I ended up getting the Black Sesame with Salted Duck Egg. The black sesame taste is strong and I loved it when I first sampled it. But after eating a whole scoop of it, I found it a little on the sweet side. What I did like was that they actually had chunks of the salted duck egg in it which helped to tone down the sweetness.
On the other hand, I would definitely return for the Rosewater White Chocolate Jasmine. The aromatic flavour of rosewater really comes out in this #icecream with a lighter hint of jasmine. I really didn't get much of the white chocolate flavour... Which actually works out better since it might have been too sweet otherwise.
I think I still prefer places like kekou or Bang Bang as I find the ice cream more creamy and less sweet. But this is a great option if you're looking something new and different. From what I understand, they change up their flavours fairly often and I'd be interested to see what they come up with next.
