Beware! Beware!. We have been with Orangutan for years, before that with American Home Maintenance. Really had no problems other than paying $428 for a surge protector in 2012. We were told the Trane unit has a surge protector build in. Waste of $428.00.
Recently we had our semi-annual inspection done. The unit was working fine at the time. The technician told us the surge protector was not even hooked up and he supposedly put in a new one.
All of a sudden we now needed a new compressor. Parts for the system approximately $3500. A new unit for around $9.000. Then he left, said the unit was working on low and would be fine until the repairs or the unit was replaced. After he left we had no air conditioning at all. The compressor would not come on.
We scheduled an appoint for Sunday between 3-5 because my wife was having a surprise birthday party. We were called Sunday morning and told me a technician was on the way. This was at noon, the time we were leaving for the birthday party. We were told no one should have made the appointment between 3-5 and that the technician could not wait 2-3 hours until we got back. Needless to say, I did not get to go because I had to wait for the technician who showed up at 1:30.
Real question!!!! How does a perfectly running air conditioner all of a sudden die during the inspection. Sabotaged????? do not really know. All I know is we will not be doing business with Orangutan ever again
