  • This is a quaint lil watering hole with a whole lot of character. I have been on Cider kick ever since my trip to Miami where I learned that good cider does not taste like Angry Orchard or Redd's Apple Ale. Good Cider is like a fine wine...and there is quite a variety. When my husband and I arrived, I was laser focused on getting cider. I ordered the Afterburner and it may be the best cider I had ever had. It had a little bite of spice to it. My tunnel vision prevented me from noticing the extensive drink menu, but my husband chose his first drink, a gin fizz, from it. Many of the drinks are gin based. We were lucky to have had the pleasure of meeting the owner who also made our drinks. He made each drink with finesse and treated his mixology as art work. If we told him what kind of drinks we liked, he would create something even if it wasn't exactly on the menu. He also spent some time creating and testing new drinks and allowing the couple of us at the bar to taste them. I appreciated how he also took pictures of these creations to post , I assume, on social media. My husband ended up ordering a few other speciality drinks recommended by the owner. This place gives the velvet tango room a run for it's money ( it is way more affordable). But the drinks are crafted with just as much care. I actually prefer the atmosphere here more - friendly and cozy with enough light to actually see your friends' faces. I continued to order the cider, sipping on my husband's drinks. I liked it there so much, I went back the next weekend. There are definitely different vibes from afternoon to night. If I lived in Lakewood, this would be my go to bar. They do not serve food, but I noticed an older couple brought in their own veggies and dip, so I am assuming you can bring in your own snacks. The back room would make a beautiful place for a small private party. I am trying to think of a reason to have one so I can host it there. Even as I type this, I am craving that Afterburner.
