  • Yeah - another one star review for Barlows delivery and installation (through the Home Depot). These guys are outright dangerous. What you don't see after they leave can hurt you. Your appliance may work, and everything may LOOK OK - - but the installation workmanship can cause harm or failure later. I made the mistake of letting them in my home a second time even though they were completely incompetent in round one back in April. My bad. Round one would have been a complete fail if I weren't coaching the guys through the install: Washer hoses on backwards (90 degree side connected to supply), hot and cold switched, placing one appliance and then having to remove it because the second couldn't be moved past it..... But hey - - anyone can have a bad day, right? Round 2 didn't go any better. They delivered (and were supposed to install) an over the range microwave and an electric range. - The technician could not correctly configure the microwave vent from "UP" to "REAR". I honestly think he'd never done it before. Thankfully, I was there to bail him out. He also did not install the vent door. - The microwave bracket was attached to the wall with 2 butterfly anchors. 4 attachment points are required and 2 of those should be into studs. I had to install 2 lag bolts into the studs myself. - The technician refused to attach the anti-tip device for the range because there was brown masking paper on the wall where the anti-tip device was to be installed. I later installed the anti-tip device myself. - The technician incorrectly wired the 4-wire electric cable to the range. I have no idea how they screwed this up - - there's a big orange sticker on the range near the cable entry point with very clear wiring instructions. I fixed it. - They installed and tightened the electric range cable restraint around the cable conductors instead of around the outer protective sheathing. i fixed it. When the crew left, I called Barlow to voice my discontent and request that they send a competent crew. That whole story is too long to tell - - but suffice to say that it took 4 phone calls, a good hour, and a whole lot of haggling and threats to get them to send another crew. I'm going to add some pictures of their work - - browse through them. These guys should not be allowed into people's homes. Home Depot has great appliance pricing; but I would never again use their installation service if it is being performed by Barlow.
