| - For the last two years, when I fly to Vegas for my mom's birthday, we make rosemary's our special dining spot. The food has not disappointed--it is an interesting blend of cal-french and cajun/bbq. And, they have a very nice wine list. I would give them five stars but our service last time was less than stellar. He was very confused about the wine, and kept offering us wines they didn't have and recommending glasses that they didn't have. So much so, that my Dad ended up saying "forget it". My mom ordered her salad with the dressing on the side and he attempted to pawn it off on her with the dressing on it. I had to specifically tell him to take it back in order to get him to replace it. He did so but without apology or acknowledgment of his error. I couldn't tell if he was new or just having a bad day. These are minor complaints however, given how much we do enjoy the food.
The atmosphere is a mix of families (yes the table next to us had two babies), older people and couples. It's somewhat formal and a bit crowded for such a small place. We ordered really excellent lamb and veal chop and the salad. But it was the appetizers that shone. The shrimp was fine but the chiles rellenos special was flavorful without being hot and the crab cakes were full of crab and flavor, with little bread. We'll be back, but we do hope that server will be having a better day.
On our first visit we even got a call a few days after our visit to follow up on our experience. That first visit was perfect and I had nothing but good things to say. On the second visit, we didn't get any follow up call or I would have mentioned the waiter.
Reservations seem to be vital. There is a bar waiting area though and their cocktails looked good. A couple was also eating at the bar, so maybe the bar takes walk ins.
