  • I'm writing a review about writers... *tiny bead of sweat trickles down forehead* FFWD serves up a well-written weekly mag, with a focus on music, entertainment & current events. It's the only 3D paper I pick-up, and not just because it's free! The style of writing, the topics (it's not just beats & eats), and the extras (funny horoscope, I SAW YOU ((i've always wanted to appear in I SAW YOU)), objective restaurant reviews, and free event listings) all make this little piece of local literature a must have for anyone living in the core. I know they distribute to other areas of the city, but i'm not sure how relevant the content is to other demographics outside of the "uptown" crowd. Advertisers, Listings, Restaurant Reviews, and even their annual "Best Of Calgary" Awards are geared towards a certain area and a certain reader. I believe that reader is the 17th Ave Scene-ster. Comments are welcome on this point. This isn't meant to sound negative - they know who they're talking to To sum it up - here's a little Top 5 List. If you are one of these and you're not checking out FFWD every week, then give your head a little shake and pick one up this Thursday: 1) Event, Music or Entertainment Promoters, Venues, and Suppliers. Local DJ's & Bands (especially if you're just breaking out of the gates) 2) Downtown Crowd (Marda Loop to Crescent Heights) 3) Vanilla Calgarians - just moved here? you need this weekly mag to give you some direction 4) Foodies & Beer Lovers - Burger Hunt, "Beer Guy" Mike Tessier's Column, Local Restaurant Reviews every week 5) Hmmm, last but not least. How about if you're from out-of-town, and want a quick overview of what to experience - I'd say FFWD is a great source for getting the info. Objective yet cool, you will only find Bieber or BSB in the small print listings Also available online at http://www.ffwdweekly.com/ KLM
