Westin Downtown Cleveland is an older version of the very popular Westin brand. Conveniently located and close to desirable neighborhoods.
The lobby is dark and very understated. When we arrived on our floor it was incredibly hot. The outside temperature was 75 degrees & the temperature indoors easily exceeded that. Arriving in our guest room the air was very stagnant and hot. We lowered the air temperature in the room from 71 to 60 in one hour it only dropped 2 degrees and the air was not cooling the bathroom. The bathroom also did not have a fan to assist with cooling. There were 3 of us who required showers prior to dinner but was too warm to achieve. We requested to move to a room with more vents & possibly a bathroom fan and were told all rooms had the same design but we could move to another room or pay for an upgrade. We waited 30 minutes & no hotel staff arrived with new keys.
I contacted American Express as I prepaid the room. American Express paid for the upgrade so we could have a comfortable stay. The manager put us in a junior suite that had 1 bed and no pull out couch for 3 individuals. In essence Abbey Harrold who is the front fest manager was not willing to make guest comfortable at $230.00 a night. I certainly advise against this outdated facility. In addition when we first arrived at our room there was a full room service tray in front of our door. One of our hand towels had stained blood on it and the bathroom ceiling had a water stair. These things are not consistent the Westin brand.
