  • I wasn't there for dinnerware, but I was dumbfounded when I noticed they hand wrote the price directly on the inside/bottom of these nice salad bowls using what appeared to be a black Sharpie marker......and it wasn't tiny writing, not that it would have made a difference. I regret not taking a photo, but like I mentioned I really wasn't there to shop for dinnerware. I asked one of the volunteer ladies about it. At first she said she thought that the writing will rub right off, but I told her that if a Sharpie marker was used....it ain't rubbing right off. She seemed intent on proving it, so I waited while she called someone presumably in the back. She assured me that the marker will come right off by using some kind of product she showed to me that was in a spray bottle & kept by the register. Truthfully, I didn't stick around to see if it would take off the marker. I still cannot understand why they wouldn't just use masking tape and write the price & stick it on the bowls. Who wants to buy dinnerware that you have to take home and use some sort of solvent to remove a handwritten price? Furthermore, who would want to stand there while the volunteer attempted to remove it for them? Understand, I'm not talking about one, solitary salad bowl. I'm saying the entire stack was written on this way. Someone donated a perfectly nice dinnerware set and this thrift store destroyed it for someone that would have appreciated having it. They should be free, not $5 ea. I can only imagine what they would look like if the price was slashed..... Careless & thoughtless. What a shame.
