  • The volunteers at the Cleveland Kennel are wonderful individuals that show exceptional dedication in trying to find rescues and homes for the unfortunate creatures that end up there. That's about the only good thing there is at this place. The facility is in poor condition and the staff (with the exception of the head warden and some of the Animal Control Officers) treat the volunteers like second-class citizens that are a burden that needs to just be tolerated. The kennel manager is a control-freak on a power trip who implements ever-changing, non-sensical rules just because she can. In the pursuit of her own self-interests, the volunteers and the animals are negatively affected. Aside from the aforementioned staffers, the others are "just there." They could care less about the welfare of the animals or the volunteers. This is probably an issue with many county-run facilities in that the people that work there are more about jockeying for position or just see it as "a job" rather than helping animals in need. It's too bad places like this can't just be shut down and the animals redistributed to well-run facilities like the APL.
