We are from the Cleveland area but like to stay downtown on occasion. This was our first time staying at the Ritz. The location is convenient to much of the nightlife. Cleveland is becoming a safe place to go out in the evenings and walk. Uber is easy to get as well.
The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms were very nicely done. The grays and blues are calming. The mattresses and room furniture were very comfortable. Our views were nice from our windows. The cheese and cracker plate upon arrival was very welcoming. There was a mini bar stocked with a good variety of liquor, som beer and wine and mixers and snacks. We couldn't find the ice machine but didn't call anyone to ask either.
The lobby and common areas were clean. The bar was hopping. When we returned to the hotel at about 11:30, there was a DJ playing and a fairly active scene. The music was a bit loud and more like club music though. I would have rather appreciated something more mature and softer to allow for conversation. It was right off the check in area and people arriving for the evening had to walk through that and try to communicate to the front desk over the noise.
The staff we encountered were top notch all around. It almost made me feel guilty. I'm not that high maintenance and no one should require that much attention in my opinion. Friendly is great but three people helping me into the car or someone walking me across the lobby to the elevator is overkill.
This is a gorgeous hotel though with thoughtful touches, cool room upgrades and we most definitely enjoyed our stay!
