| - Whole Foods, Whole Paycheck, the Dubbya Eff.... call it what you want. This is by far, one of my favorite places to hang out and shop.
I agree that Whole Foods is NOT expensive. To call it expensive, you would have to be comparing apples to apples... and you aren't going to find an apple like this anywhere in Cleveland. The high quality products they sell are, by nature, more expensive. So yah, you can easily end up spending a lot of money in here. But you have to look at what you are getting. They do have the economical 365 brand which is comparable in price to regular grocery brands.
The prepared foods are excellent. Most things taste like you made them yourself. I could name all my favorites, but that would take up at least a few paragraphs. Let's just say that I haven't had too many things I didn't like. You can sample just about anything as well. Just ask one of the friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Osteria Cafe is awesome. You can have a glass of wine and a gourmet meal for under $20. This also includes crusty bread and olive oil. Yum
I have been frequenting the "5 by 7" events on Friday nights. For $5, you get 5 food and wine/beer pairings. There's always some sort of entertainment as well. I have also attended some classes and workshops. Always fun and informative and reasonably priced. There's always something going on. And if you are into fine food and have an adventurous pallet, chances are good that you will find what you need.
