| - If you're buying from Jared's you're wasting your money. They think you're too stupid to figure out they're ripping you off. I wanted to purchase a new diamond for my wife and trade in the diamond I purchased 10-years ago from another store. The diamond I wanted to trade in is GIA certified and bought from a reputable dealer, not the mall stores. We paid over $3,500 10 years ago, and Jared's offered me $2300 for it. And I was looking to spend $8,000 of my money on a new diamond, on top of the value of the trade in. I didn't expect to make money, but I didn't want to loose money, especially not $1,200. Really funny, the lady showing the diamonds talked about them being an investment. Yea, an investment in their pocket. Suffice it to say, I took a picture of the diamond card I was interested in at Jared's and compared it with the dealer I purchased my diamond. It was over $1500 more at Jared's. In short, they charge you rediculously more for their diamonds and will not pay you anywhere close to value if you're trading in. When I asked why the difference I was told it's corporate policy on what they offer. They have to send the diamonds in and have them re-certified I don't know why that is necessary. The diamond is laser etched and we have the certification record. It's not a car, so there are no dings or depreciation based on condition to consider. Cleaning a loose diamond is 30 seconds with a cloth and some cleaner. They offer easy credit and a big selection. They prey on the weak. If you have any self respect, you won't shop at any Jared's. I recommend McGivern's Diamonds. They are on-line, but I have dealt with them and they are fair and honest.
