| - After being so indecisive on where I wanted to eat yesterday afternoon one thing I knew was that I wanted a juicy big burger with fries. While walking along Queen street, me and my sister came across The Public House. We took a quick glance at the menu and of course the large all menu items $5.99 at the top of the menu won us over. Upon entering we were able to choose where we wanted to sit which is always nice. We chose the back of the restaurant by the kitchen. They had a few TV's playing NCAA football and Premier League Soccer. There aren't too many items on the menu to choose from but they have their fair share of regular pub food (burgers, poutine, chicken fingers etc). I decided to go for the burger which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mayonnaise. All extra items such as cheese, egg, bacon etc are $1.50 each. The burger doesn't come with a side so fries cost $2.99 each. Me and my sister both got burgers, I got mine with cheese and egg and me and my sister shared her side of fries. The fries were tasty, soft and had just the right amount of salt too them. The burger was huge and very juicy - it was exactly what I was looking for that evening. They don't have a drink menu which is a downside as we ordered two cokes but weren't sure of the price until we received our bill. ($5.90 for both).
Overall, this place was just ok. The burger was great but it was a little disappointing that we had to pay extra for fries and all other toppings. That sure is how these $5.99 places get you as our total bill for 2 cokes, 2 burgers + 1 side of fries came out to $30.59. We could have gone to another place and received more value for our buck.
