| - One star for a great 50% of staff...another for the breakfast and social spread. Highly disappointed with the lack of empathy from front desk agents. My father was recommended to come here by the spine institute. The price and location seemed unbeatable. However, we were unaware that the hotel was going through renovations. We found out the hard way by hearing loud bashing and various construction noises right above our room. I went to the front desk after putting up with it for over an hour straight. It was so loud, I couldn't have a conversation with someone 2 feet away from me. I asked politely if we could move the next day. The agent said that there was nothing (and continued to check in other guests periodically). So, I asked if construction would move away from our room. She said no--she doesn't know their schedule. I explained that my dad is here for surgery and he doesn't get a full 8 hour sleep at night because he is in so much pain, so he needs naps during the day. She said there was nothing she could do, but I could try asking the next day. So---I did. Same result with the morning agent. Frustrated, my father and I left for his appointment. The gentleman (I forgot his name) was a sweetheart and a great driver.
At the appointment, the institute asked us how our stay was. I explained the situation and they called down two members of their executive committee... they called the sales manager Jessica immediately.
Jessica took care of us immediately. She was kind and empathetic to our situation. We've spent a lot of money to travel here and if my dad got sick from lack of sleep he would be rejected from surgery.
Anyway--front desk agents were kinder after the situation was seemingly resolved. We were moved within minutes to a room closer to the main door and away from the noise. Also, our 1 night was unexpectedly comped which made us feel more welcome. We were truly appreciative.
10pm the day of the new room-- there were no sheets for the pull out sofa bed. Ok, no big deal...dad's about to sleep, so I'll just go to the FD and pick them up.
All of a sudden, I hear a big crash! The closet door by the bathroom fell off the hinges and almost struck my father (just what we need...). The floor is scraped. There's a missing screw on the floor that we can't find...and now the room looks less attractive. I'm assuming this is why they're renovating, but we'd hope that it would be smooth sailing from here...
Anyway, I went to the front desk to get my sheets and inform them of the door. The agent suggested someone go in immediately. Thanks, but not this late. I'll just wait for my sheets. 25min after waiting, I finally got them. The wait time for this is ok, stuff happens I guess....
I'm hoping this review will give management some clarity on what the guests may be going through during a renovation. Keep guests here for medical reasons away from construction...in a room that won't fall apart. We're here for 6 nights...only 5 more to go. Hopefully, I can give a happy update after my stay.
