  • Mastro's is an elegant and stylish place...warm wood, glass and highly polished slate adorn the area when you walk in...more feminine than some of the other high end steak houses, which I liked. We were given the choice of the dining room, bar area or outdoor patio for our table, we chose the patio although the bar would have been nice since they had live music. The patio was small and cozy with ample heat lamps and comfortable chairs. The wine/cocktail and dinner menus were limited but contained all the steakhouse standards. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly for our reservation. Our server was nice - pleasant and professional. We ordered a few cocktails and glasses of wine (generous pours) and contemplated our dinner choices. We landed on the Bone In Rib Eye, Double Pork Chop and Filets. The Rib Eye was more fatty than expected but the flavor was good. For the filet, I really like a nice char on the outside of my steak, which this one didn't have. When I cut into the meat it was somewhat stringy. The flavor was mediocre. I know our dining companion really enjoyed the pork chop. Our sides included the Sautéed Spinach, Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese and Creamed Corn - all three were tasty but not outstanding. For dessert we had the Chocolate Pudding Cake with fresh whipped cream and blackberries, which was the true standout in an otherwise ordinary meal. We enjoyed our food and the cocktails - everything was good but I've had much better and to me quality just didn't live up to the steep price. I would likely take a pass on Mastro's City Hall next time.
