| - Another solid local brewery visit! Actually it's a brew pub with a full size-bar and restaurant, which was exactly what I was looking for for lunch before leaving Tempe. Apparently, that was what everyone else was thinking too because the place was packed. Granted, it WAS a Saturday, so I can't say I was completely surprised. But between the bar, tables and outdoor seating, they have way more room than I expected.
I found a spot at the bar and immediately decided on a flight of the standard offerings, which included an impressive, varied and affordable selection of eight samples for only $10. Sold. The rack included Sunbru (Kolsch), Raj IPA, Hop Knot (IPA), 8th St Pale Ale (English), Peach ale (fruit), Kilt Lifter (Scottish), White Ale (Belgian) and Oatmeal (stout). Naturally, they also serve pints and growler fills for those interested (if I wasn't flying I would've considered this a viable option for the Kilt Lifter or White).
Regarding lunch, I was craving something a little different and their specials menu featuring an elk burger fit the definition since I've never had one before. The burger was done exactly how I like and I enjoyed the numerous pickles on top, and of course, the bacon! The side was an order of big cut steak fries, which were fine as well.
Overall, a worthwhile visit to one of the more popular breweries in the area, even if the one-side street parking is cramped or completely filled during their more popular hours. 4.5 Stars.
