I hope the staff is not as cruel to the animals as they are to potential adopters. I took my parents to this shelter. They are seniors and experienced dog owners. We spent 30 minutes in a room with a dog they were interested in adopting. Enough time for my parents to fall in love and start picking out new names. The dog was a small mix, calm and submissive. A staff member came in and said they would not allow my parents to adopt that dog because he is a "door dasher and they were not young"!? They took the dog out of my Dad's arms and said they had another dog that would be a better match. This dog was high energy, jumping on everyone and everything, and would not allow any of us to touch him. Needless to say we left. My Dad had tears in his eyes when we got in the car. The next day I took them to the wonderful AAWL in Phoenix. They came home with a sweet little dog who is the prince of the household. I pray that little dog that was so rudely snatched from my Dad's arms at Sun Valley found a wonderful home. He sure missed out on one with my parents. He was probably a "door dasher" in that shelter trying to escape the crazy staff! I have adopted 3 animals from different shelters and have volunteered in 2 shelters and have never had such a toxic, negative experience with people who are supposedly animal lovers!?
