  • Did some research when we were looking to rent a small dumpster to excavate old rock from our backyard. The $300 price tag was about average, so we chose to go with Republic Services since we use their trash service. Horrible idea. I set up the rental online, and it lets you pick a delivery date but not a time. So I received the confirmation e-mail and my credit card was charged, but received no further confirmation. I spent over 2 hours the next day trying to call to get a time frame for delivery. I managed to get one person on the phone who said he couldn't find my order, even though I had the order #, and put me on hold to get someone else. After 15 minutes of hold with NO CHECK BACK, I hung up and tried to call again. Nobody answered for nearly 30 minutes so I gave up. Tried again the next day, and it took over 30 minutes for the person I spoke to to find my mysteriously missing order and then try to get a hold of dispatch to get a delivery time (my delivery date was the next day!). He let me know nobody at dispatch was answering their phones, and only one person even had room on their voicemail for him to leave a message. The next day was delivery day, and I waited at my house from 8am until around 1pm for the delivery since I had no idea when they would come. According to the contract, if they come to deliver/pick up and you're not home, they charge $175!! The guy showed up out of the blue and dropped the dumpster off. And as I waited for him to get out of the truck for me to sign some kind of form, he drove off without another word! In the meantime, I have sent 2 e-mails to customer service (since phones don't seem to be an option) and nobody has bothered to e-mail back. It has now been a week since I sent my e-mails requesting to speak to a manager. I'll continue to try and get someone to talk to me, but at this point I just wish I'd gone with another company even if it cost me more money!!! UPDATE: The corporate office messaged me and said they told management to get a hold of me. This was over a week ago at this point. Still zero communication... This is a JOKE. UPDATE #2: It has been a month since I wrote this review. And the corporate office keeps saying they've told a customer service manager to get a hold of me. And it has not happened. Not even an impersonal e-mail or letter. I just...can't fathom this level of ineptitude. UPDATE #3: Captain's log, star date 1.390.488.. Still no reply. Not sure what else I can add here that wasn't covered in all my previous disbelief with this company. If they weren't a monopoly, they'd be out of business.
