We parked in the Fifth Third Garage in Uptown on a Sunday. The Panthers were playing that day. In addition to the permanent sign, there was a Special Events sign, stating that the charge was a flat rate of $6.00. Other garages in the area had a similar sign showing a flat rate of $6.00 that day. We parked at this particular garage because my husband regularly attends business meetings in Uptown and parks in this garage.
Same thing happened to us as happened to Tom M. When we returned four hours later, we were charged $20.00 instead of the advertised flat rate of $6.00. When I corresponded with the Parking Manager, his response was that he checked the sign--the permanent sign--on a WEEKDAY. Obviously the Special Events sign was not posted the day he checked for the Special Events sign.
I wonder how often Laz Parking plays this little con game. Most people don't take the time to warn others about this type of deceptive pattern.
