We arrived in Montreal on a Thursday night and by the time we arrived at the hotel, checked in, and drop our bags, most of the restaurant kitchens were closing. Thank goodness there was Mechant Boeuf. We called ahead and were told that their kitchen was still open. We arrived and seated ourselves right away at the bar. There wasn't anyone in the dining room but there were a couple of people hanging out at the bar. The DJ was still actively spinning music.
The bartender was great and did not at all rush us so we were still able to enjoy our cocktails with the food. It was late and we just wanted cocktails and food. Granted, we didn't know what to expect and the best part was that we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Steak tartare and salmon tartare are my one of favorite foods ever so I've had my fair of this and am able to draw comparisons. Both of these items had great flavor. The poutine with braised pork was also quite a delight.
