| - I came in there once on Valentine's day which happened to be Friday, the restaurant was packed, so I didn't get seated and decided to come back.
The actual visit was such a disappointment. The bread was served cold, it wasn't even warm. The very sad lasagna was cold in the middle, seems like it was thawed before serving. The lasagna wasn't impressive, tomato sauce was too sweet, and not enough meat. Sweet potato ravioli in gorgonzola sauce were interesting, but not interesting enough to pay $21 for six raviolis: sweet potatoes were too sweet, the dish was lukewarm, not hot. Olive oil on the table tasted stale, their balsamic vinegar gave me a heartburn (I have better one at home).
The decor is outdated.
The server, Dennis, tried to play a role of a server from a better restaurant than La Stalls is; I prefer more authentic and genuine attitude. But more importantly, I prefer my food served hot, especially on Monday evenings, when they have only few tables seated.
Three-star Buca di Beppo, being a chain, has more ambiance, more flavor in their Italian dishes than this downtown Chandler 'gem'. Needless to say, servers at Buca were always more delightful than "I am going to act arrogant, so they'll think this is high-end restaurant" attitude. It makes me really wonder how this place stays in business and get such high reviews!
