ZenQ hasn't officially opened but I had the opportunity to try out their menu during their trial opening.
The desserts here are authentic and they say all ingredients are directly imported from Taiwan except the Mochi balls (tri-colored) which are handmade in store.
Having grown up in Taiwan, I understand how low the costs are to make a bowl of G2 - grass jelly with mochi, so for $7.00 after tax, I expected decent portions.
Unfortunately, I felt that they really skimped on the materials. Only a few Mochi balls were in this dish - around two per color and a scoop of tapioca. Maybe it's because they're not fully opened yet, so I made a suggestion to the staff that for $7, the portions were way too small.
The handmade mochi balls were delicious and very similar to the ones back in Taiwan. I would totally come back if the prices made sense - I'd say $5 would get me back in here everyday!
The Oreo slush was also over $6, compared to competition like ShareTea, ChaTime and Easy Drink, which are all walking distance from ZenQ, their menu is definitely more pricey than any other.
The interior decor is simple and clean. Staff members were all friendly and helpful with describing items on the menu. ZenQ is certainly worth a visit for some authentic Taiwanese dessert despite steeper prices!
