  • I stopped by this evening to grab the finishing touches (okay, more like the main thing) for my Halloween costume. First, a little background: I had this grand scheme in my mind to create a Domo kun masterpiece, but I've been too lazy to get to it, and now I've really only got a few hours between today and Saturday (partayyyyy!!) to get a costume together. So with Domo kun on the back burner, I decided on plan C (there was a plan B, but that also was tossed aside for later). Fast forward to today. After work and a brief stop at home to let the traffic die down, I headed to this store. I didn't know what to expect, since I don't usually (ever) visit fabric stores. What I found was a pleasant surprise. The store is pretty organized for having a bajillion different spools of different fabrics, not to mention all of the other crap that they sell. I knew what I wanted, flagged down someone stocking the aisles, and after a few minutes of digging through the bajillion fabrics, she found exactly what I was looking for. A very nice semi-elderly woman. Off I go to the cutting station, where they measure and cut your fabrics, and then shoot you a ticket to use to pay at the front registers. My fabric ended up being on sale, from $5.99 a yard to $2.99 a yard...score! The person who helped me here was a nice younger woman, who briefly chatted with me about my costume plans. It didn't hurt that she was cute also ;) When I got to the checkout line, there were about seven people in line, and it seemed like it would take a while (I stopped by Wal-mart before, and you know what those ghetto lines can be like), when lo and behold, more cashiers appeared like a pack of ninjas (from two cashiers to five). It took less than five minutes for me to get through the line, pay, and get out to my car. The cashier was also a nice elderly lady. Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts will be where I go the next time I decide to get crafty. Domo kun, you're looking good for next year...
