  • I have mixed feelings about Sushi Roku. It's not the best, nor the worst experience I've had. I guess if I had to sum them up in one word, it would be mediocre. My gf and I went to Sushi Roku on our first day in Vegas. The two of us have had omakase at some of the best restaurants NYC has to offer. We've been to Nobu, Nakazawa, Gari, and Akio. Seeing that Roku offered omakase made us excited as we wanted to add another feather in our cap of excellent sushi, but in truth it was a bit of a dud. The omakase is six courses, really just three sandwiched between an appetizer and a dessert. The appetizer was an interesting salad, the dessert was a strawberry shortcake thing that you could likely find at a local diner, and the three sushi courses were more or less forgettable. I'd like to give you more details, but honestly that's all you need to know. There was no ah-ha moment were I thought that they had created something special. I can't honestly say that it was bad though and had we not previously experienced some of the most amazing sushi you could eat, we might have been more impressed. The one highlight of Roku was the service. We had a great sushi chef and a great server. Our server really went the extra mile and gave us some help in finding the perfect place to watch fireworks on the 4th of July. Additionally, the beer and spirit offerings were great. I had a fantastic rice beer that I wish I remembered the name. Go to Sushi Roku, just don't have the omakase. It's not worth the price. You'll have a good time though.
