Loud messy location with average but overpriced burgers.
Had the sconnie burger, which sounded amazing on paper. It's a ground mix of bacon and beef with fried pickles on a Stella's hot and spicy cheesebread bun. Of all unpredictable outcomes the burger was bland. No taste of bacon, and a surprisingly _tiny_ burger without fries, for $9. Only Madisonians will appreciate this next criticism: the bun didn't come with any burnt cheese, it was just a plain bun. This is a cardinal violation when serving anything Stella's. Fries were fine.
The saving point for AJ's is that there are peanuts everywhere, as in all over the tables, floors, and customers. They're sent in huge ceiling contraptions that explode all over patrons' hair and down their shirts. Now that's good entertainment. I'd come back for a drink and to watch preppies brush off their heads but that's about it.
The average tab for members of our party was $15 just for food. Extremely expensive for a second tier burger execution. Stick with Dotty's, Old Fashioned, or Tipsy Cow, in that order.
