  • Flowering feast for your aromatic senses greets people roaming the main floor of The Bellagio. No, I am not talking about the floral arrangements in the reception/front desk area; rather the Conservatory and Botanical Garden, just beyond it. Flowers and vegetation change seasonally. Hyacinths blue and orange, tulips, purple and orange calla lilies, chrysanthemums, cyclamen, and a few other types of spring blooms populated the cosy, glass-ceilinged space. I delighted in the Japanese garden theme for spring ("haru"), with a large tortoise and a crane decorated in blooms, both Rose Bowl Parade-ready. Each animal topiary has a metal frame to hold floral foam in place. Also decorating the Conservatory space: a foot-bridge, boisterous waterfall and traditional spouts ("kakei") featuring water pouring out of parallel hollow bamboo stalks, tea house, a bevy of parasols suspended from the ceiling, and a cherry blossom tree sculpture made exclusively for the Bellagio. Some koi about half-foot long swam about seeking food in a coin-filled pond surrounding beneath the tree sculpture. The only negative? It's a victim of its own popularity. Crowds of visitors just block the walk-ways in this small area, taking photos and what-not. I suppose I did a little of that too, but I was pretty courteous. ;p You'll find the Conservatory and Botanical Garden straight ahead, with the registration desks on your left, beyond the grand lobby of Bellagio. Just follow the scent of fresh flowers.
