| - My favorite food in the world is New Mexican, which is not to be confused with any other variation of Mexican. NewMex is unique and in my humble opinion, is much more sophisticated than its spurious cousins. I used to live in northern New Mexico and I got hooked to it the first day I lived there. It is one of my life quests (this sounds awful, right?) to find the best New Mexican places to eat in the US.
Meal: I went with the green chile meatloaf with medium eggs. I also went with the beans and the potatoes. To drink, I went with two different beers, but I can't remember which ones.
Taste: Holy shit! The meatloaf was the best meatloaf I have ever had. The eggs were complimented the meal extremely well and the green chile is spicy. But it wasn't that it was just "hot" but it had great seasonings. The only let down was the tortilla. It wasn't homemade fresh. Had it been served with my meal, this place would be a perfect 10. 8 out of 10.
Value: Outside of saying its above average but not great, I don't know what else to really say. The portions are healthy size and you will be bound to have a little leftover. 4 out of 5.
Service/Cleanliness: Our waitress was attentive, funny, a smartass (but in a good way) and made great recommendations. We got to sit down quickly and the food was served pretty darn quick. 9 out of 10.
Atmosphere: The fiancé and I sat at the big copper table where multiple parties can sit at. At first, I was a little hesitant but at the end, I thought it was one of the coolest dining experiences. We spoke to a bunch of random people and got great ideas of where to eat it. We celebrated another person's birthday. It was incredibly fun! 5 out of 5.
Overall: Dick's is one of my favorite places to eat in Phoenix. I am a sucker for great New Mexican food and Dick's is of no short supply of it. 27 out of 30 points, 5 out of 5 stars.
