This was not my first stop, but it was the last. My brother had a gold watch he purchased in the early 90s (he paid $1200). Thanks to the crash of the housing market, he sold it to my mom for $400. She decided to sell it, and it somehow became my problem to sell it.
First stop was a We Buy Gold place which should be called We Buy Your Lunch at Taco Bell. Second stop was Valley Coin Co, but since the phone was never answered, not even by a machine, I couldn't determine if they were even still in business. That's when I went the estate jeweler route. We went to TEWJC and were given an offer with much less hoopla than at the We Buy Gold place, but 3 times the cash. We went to get one other offer, but ultimately came back to TEWJC the next day where the transaction was handled courteously and professionally.
I also had time to look around a little, and they really do have some beautiful jewelry. All the staff I encountered were helpful as well.
