I can safely say that I had such a great experience here at Comme Ca. It is totally fitting that they are located inside the ultra luxe Cosmopolitan Hotel. The interior decor was very modern and clean and the view of the strip is amazing. Unfortunately, all the tables along the window were either taken or reserved so we had to sit at a booth. We could still see the big Paris balloon but it would've topped the experience had we had the view.
The complimentary bread stick with sea salt butter was a nice beginning. At first glance, the bread stick looked hard but once you get your fingers on it you will realize that it may have just come out fresh from the oven. We could see some of the steam coming out as we were ripping the bread to shreds. The sea salt butter was lightly salted and very soft and pillowey-like.
My friend got the 3-course meal. The french onion soup had the thickest layer of cheese on top. Once you broke through it, you got a bowl of piping hot soup that tasted so light which ended with a crisp on your tongue. There were pieces of bread already sitting in the soup causing it to become as soft as a wet sponge. The soup wasn't the best french onion soup we've had but it was definitely at the top of both of our lists. While my friend was working on the french onion soup, we split a half dozen of the cocktail shrimp. We are talking pretty sizable pieces of shrimp here. I very rarely see them so plump and so healthy-looking. The cocktail sauce had a bit of wasabi blended in which gave it that extra kick but I could've done without it.
As our main entree, I myself ordered moules frites and my friend ordered the steak tartine sandwich. Judging by these types of restaurants you would expect portions at less than average amounts. Don't be fooled by this place because they totally blew us away when our entrees came out. Food at epic proportions! Their frites were thin and the garlic ranchy dipping sauce was amazing. I think I could've drank that thing. The two just went hand-in-hand like peas and carrots. I got a big heaping bowl of mussels mixed with onions marinaded in what seemed like a white wine sauce. You could see all the juices sitting at the bottom. The mussels were big, juicy and tasty. I didn't think I'd be full because of all the space the shells were taking but I was completely mistaken. I was totally stuffed and more than satisfied.
For my friend's 3rd course, he got the profiteroles. I had no intention of eating any of it because we were thinking the portion was going to be tiny but again, Comme Ca totally faked us out! I fell head over heels for those profiteroles. The pastry balls were soft yet had a crunch to it. Inside was vanilla bean ice cream which was nothing short of perfection. Sweet but not overly rich or thick. Everything simply went so well together. There was also wired sugar which our waiter used warm chocolate syrup to pour over. It was a unique but impressive twist to the dish.
The service was great and whenever one of us would leave the table, we would came back to a neatly folded napkin. I would definitely come back and make reservations for a table along the windows!
