| - well, this was definitely an experience.....
newer market that took an old Albertson's spot that was vacant for quite some time
its on rainbow and flamingo, went here because pretty close to where I live
WOW, I think I was one of the few non-Hispanic people in there!
banda music blaring, lots of Hispanic touches...bakery, deli counter, prepared foods, etc.
NOW I know how non-Asians feel about shopping at 99 Ranch :-)
In any case, because of the close proximity, have come here a few times
they have some specials on weds-thurs, got some pretty good deals on meat
3.99/lb for oxtail....SCORE, chicken drumsticks at .29/lb, T-bone steaks 5.99/lb
only thing, some of the butchers don't speak English too well, numbers are called out in Spanish, but you can always point and choose what you want.....
also, they had advertised mutton one week, I went to buy and the counter guys insisted that mutton was goat meat, not lamb....I am pretty sure I was right, that mutton is older lamb, a bit more gamey than most lamb sold (young). No big deal, just passed on it, not real sure on what to do with goat meat!
haven't really purchased anything else other than from butcher counter and on occasion some fresh bakery items, so honestly can't do full comparison to a Smiths or Albertsons.
can only tell you that they do have some good deals, just prepare to enter another world!
overall, not a bad place to shop
