| - I have never written a negative review, but, my experience today at Arbor Ridge Pet Clinic was so bad I feel I need to let others know. I'm not here to bash Arbor Ridge or Doctor Hook, I'm here to share my very negative experience.
I just moved to the area from CA and I have a 10 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback who I took to one vet where the initial office visit took about 10 minutes, (that's another review). I called Arbor Ridge on Friday afternoon, I was very clear communicating that I needed an ultrasound done ASAP. A mass has been found near my dog's liver/spleen. I booked the appointment, no problem, was very pleased that they had the necessary equipment in house to do the ultrasound, I was given a quote for an office visit and ultrasound, so far so good. Saturday afternoon I got a call letting me know that I should not feed dog anything after midnight Sunday. I thanked the person for the reminder and hung up.
I showed up for my appointment, and was placed in a very small exam room, my dog is 96 lbs. and she's a BIG dog. Chris, the vet tech, was the only positive thing about this visit. Dr. Hook seemed to be very knowledgable, but, I didn't feel comfortable with the fact that he couldn't look me in the eye when he was speaking to me, which I was willing to overlook if my dog received the proper medical care. I was there for about an hour and a thorough exam, when Chris came in with an estimate, no surprises with the cost. But, the surprise came when I was informed that my appointment was not for an ultrasound, the person who booked the appointment booked me for "a second opinion" I never said anything about a second opinion, I very clearly stated I wanted an ultrasound, and not enough time had been allotted for my visit. I admit, I came unglued at this point and was absolutely livid!! I explained everything to Chris and she was sincerely apologetic, she even offered to come in early so I could drop my dog off. Come to find out, ultrasounds are an all day affair and I had to drop my dog off no earlier than 7:30 am. Since I have to be to work at 7:00 Chris offered to come in early. I felt I should not have to pay the $60 office visit and asked to speak to the doctor.
Dr. Hook came out of the back with an attitude and could not understand why I was angry, he never once apologized for the mistake his staff made, he seemed to care less that I did not receive the treatment I had made the appointment for. He was extremely indifferent to the inconvenience the error had caused me. He showed no compassion that my 96 lb. dog had not eaten all day because a member of his staff called me to tell me not to feed my dog for a 4:00 pm ultrasound that would never happen at that hour at his office!! Instead of showing compassion or remorse he stated: "Why should you not pay, you received the service". I paid the $59.95 (which is high for an office visit) and got the heck out of there and let Chris know that I would be giving a negative review.
Chris, this message is for you: I truly appreciate your empathy, you were the only positive aspect of this experience. Dr. Hook does not deserve you. I hope he treats you better than he treated me, you deserve much, much, more!!
