rev:text	If I come back to this place it for the freebies and not the entrees. To begin, I'm a big fan of Tex Mex and I was really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately the place didn't live up to expectations but complimentary food you get with every visit softens the blow. I ordered the enchiladas and carnitas platter with a cup of the chicken chowder as an appetizer. The soup was pretty average, thick and creamy with big pieces of chicken and even bigger pieces of carrots. Not bad but not really worth ordering again. The platter on the other hand was a disaster. The enchiladas were nothing more than poorly rolled taquitos completely lacking in enchilada sauce sitting on a bed of rice covered in some watered down cheese sauce. Meh! The carnitas were even worse: dry, tough and flavorless, I took two bites and couldn't finish the rest. I really don't know how this plate left the kitchen. There are some upsides however. The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious. They brought over two big bowls of chips (assortment of sweet potatoes, corn, and plantains) and some home made salsa. Canyon Cafe also brings over some white chocolate/nut desert wrapped in corn husks. A welcome distraction before you see how much $$ they are charging you. Lastly, don't forget the Yelp! check in for a free dessert. We got the cheesecake and it was a massive strawberry coated piece of deliciousness, probably the best part of the dinner. Service friendly and on point. Overall an ok experience. Worth a second chance.
