  • Located upstairs in the Mint Museum with gorgeous decor. We stopped in for an afternoon treat. We were seated and given a menu of "small plates" and "the stuff that's bad for you (desserts)". We ordered the Espresso Cake and the Strawberry Cake and shared them. THE STRAWBERRY CAKE. This is not your average cake. The soft cake is pink with an amazing vanilla cream center with pieces of strawberries mixed in. This is the best cake I've ever had in my life. The Espresso Cake is also amazing. Genoise sponge with espresso cream and chocolate? Wha's better than that. It also comes with a semifreddo that tastes just a frozen mouse. It's served on top of a crumble that reminded me of some of America's favorite candy bars. The pastry chef is extremely talented and is creating works of art that belong on the inside of the museum. The only con is that our waiter joked about how the pastry chef only makes "healthy" things, hinting that dessert is "bad" for you, etc. If only he knew I came to celebrate my 21st birthday with a piece of cake after battling a 4 year eating disorder...
