  • The Buffet at the Wynn was our one splurge for ourselves during our two nights on the Strip, and although I'm still boggled thinking back on how much money we spent on ourselves, I'm glad we did it! We went out for dinner at around 6 and were already pretty hungry. When we arrived at the buffet, the greeter told us it was about an hour and 15 minute wait in the regular line, or we could pay to stand in the VIP line which was just a 15 minute wait. Took a moment to think about it, then went, f*** it, we're in Vegas, let's be silly and spend money on ourselves! So we paid the ~holiday dinner~ price of $55 (everything's more expensive around holidays), did the VIP line, and each added on the Endless Pour, which meant unlimited beer, wine, sangria, champagne, mimosas, and a fun little cocktail called the Berry Blossom with vodka or rum. The total for two with those add-ons and tax was just over $200. (Sorry, wallet.) Looking back, I wish we had just waited in the regular line, because the food probably would have tasted better to our tortured appetites, and in the grand scheme of things, an hour and 15 minutes is really not that long of a time. But there's no use trying to logic yourself into that when your stomach is whispering "YOLO"... Anywho, the food was scrumptious and the selection was only intimidating if you really thought that you were gonna have some of everything. Like, are you really going to pay $100+ per person for a buffet to get mac and cheese??? I don't think so. I focused my attentions on the dim sum, sushi, ribs, and dessert. The latke station seemed super fly (giant rotating stovetop with blank latkes, and you could ask the guy to top yours with such ridiculous extravagances as wagyu beef and horseradish cream), but the one I got was way too salty to have more than a bite. The sushi and seafood were yummy and fresh; I almost cried at my first taste of dim sum in more than two years; the watermelon and feta salad was refreshing, a surprising but welcome addition; and I easily downed a Berry Blossom, a sangria, and the medium-sized carafe (!) of coffee that our very sweet server, Rival, brought me at the end of the meal. By sheer force of will, I scoped out the dessert bar and had some fantastic little creme brulees, and then I was totally wiped out. I would probably go back in a few years, when my appetite and budget have recovered. :)
