  • While this location is more convenient for me in comparison to the North Las Vegas one, it is located right in the middle of a very bad area. In the past year, I have had to inform the manager twice of homeless people fighting in the parking lot. My main issue with not only this location, but Deseret Industries as a whole, is that selection is limited and over-priced. It seems as though when they get a donation, they don't sort through the items very well. I have seen shirts covered in Sharpie, toys covered in boogers, scrapbooks and gift wrap torn to shreds... and yet they still have no problem asking $10 for it. Lastly, I don't care for the manager of this location. He is always walking around with his slicked-back hair and his walkie-talkie, acting like he's a big-shot CEO of a major corporation, talking down to employees/volunteers and customers. A while back ago I overheard him "training" a new employee/volunteer in which he stated, "Young man, come here... now, I often get asked by so many people what the difference is between Deseret Industries and Walmart. And... pay attention... do you know what I tell them? I tell them... you should probably be writing this down... I tell them that Deseret Industries sells." It took every ounce of my strength to hold back my laughter. Another incident with this manager happened a few weeks ago. I was there on a Friday at around 6 pm. I was browsing when I heard the manager come on the loud speaker, "Attention shoppers!! We will be closing in EXACTLY one hour at 7 pm and we ask that you please start forming a line to check out now, as it gets extremely busy!" Ummm... what? Never mind the fact that he was basically asking us to leave an hour before closing, but I looked around and it was only me and two elderly people. Yeah... real busy. Fast forward ten minutes later, 6:10, and I'm still browsing, and he comes on the loud speaker once again, and "reminds" us to come to the cash register to "beat the crowds". He proceeded to do this every ten minutes until I finally got annoyed, put back everything I had been looking at, and left at 6:30. This guy needs to be told to take a chill pill.
