Before writing this review I was quite surprised to see the number of 1 star reviews. This place isn't the best, but you could do a lot worse.
Pros:
Not as busy as the Warden and Steeles location
Friendly service
Cons:
Drinks are not as good as Warden and Steeles location
So let me say this first, the Warden and Steeles location is my favourite location by far. I actually prefer that location to have a sit down tea more than the Ten Ren's and Chatime because I love the atmosphere of that location. The Green Grotto here is nowhere close to recreating that feel, but it's not horrible by any standard. I like the fact that I can come here on a weekday afternoon and it won't be crazy busy.
Having a little one tagging along makes this location more ideal for us currently. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the couch seats were available. That almost never happens at the Warden and Steeles location. This place is much quieter as well. If you're looking to get some work down as some of the other people inside were, this is your better bet.
I ordered the green apple green tea and my GF ordered a macha slush (If i remember correctly). Word to the wise, Green Grotto's small size in extremely small. Just get the large size from now on. The price differential is small and you get much more for it. The drinks here are OK, not as good as their Warden and Steeles location but adequate enough.
It does feel like this place in understaffed. There were only 2 staff on hand and it looks like it will stay that way for the entire day. When it got a little busy, they were a little slow because there's only 2 of them. They were quite nice though throughout our stay here. Every time our little one waved at them they did their best to interact back with her. It was a pleasant stay to say the least.
Like I said, I don't understand the 1 star reviews too much. 1 star for me is reserved for the absolute horrible. This place isn't the best, but I know you can do a lot worse.
