| - We decided to have a girls night out starting with dinner at Cibo. One of my girlfriend's has raved about the food so I was excited to try it out.
Upon arriving, I couldn't help but notice the overpowering stench of an old barn - wet hay and manure included. Not the kind of smell you want when trying to entice people to eat. Even our question to our server about it was left unanswered . . .
Everything on the menu is set to share, so we were ready to dig in. For starters we ordered the date salad, mixed greens salad, arancini (which was balls of risotto deep fried - YUM!), lamb meatballs and grilled scallops.
I normally don't order salad as a starter so initially I wasn't thrilled about getting mixed greens. But the pistachios, raisins and the balsamic vinaigrette made it a really tasty dish!
For our mains we ordered 3 pizzas - the wild boar bacon, pineapple and mushroom. Each were delicious in their own way. As much as I love bacon, I'd have to say my favorite of the 3 was the pineapple. The crumbed prosciutto, sprinkles of chili peppers (which gave it a nice kick) and fresh arugula was a perfect melody of flavors.
Dessert we shared the dark chocolate date budini (which was generous sized brownie cake) and the Nutella calzone.
I would give the food, service and experience 5 stars, but I'm still reminded of the wretched barn smell and that's why I'm giving it a 4 star rating.
