  • I've had better customer service at a Wendy's! For my friend's bday party, we made a reservation during restaurant week. Because of the restaurant's name, she was worried about me & called ahead asking if they could make special accommodations for a vegetarian and asked them to note that there was a vegetarian in the reservation. Shortly after we were seated, the server put down baskets of rolls, without saying anything at all. I took two bites out of one and thought it tasted funky, at which point one of my friends who had eaten there before looked at me shocked, asking if I knew there was bacon in the rolls. I know that people who eat meat do not understand vegetarianism and that's fine, I'm not asking them to. But at least have respect for other people's choices. Even if it had been chicken, I could have understood since almost everyone eats chicken. But bacon? How many cultures and religions have dietary restrictions against bacon??? (Hint: a lot). So, yes I had a terrible experience because meat was in my mouth for the first time in 13 years. I know that people don't understand what a big deal that is to me, which is why it wouldn't have been such a big deal if a single person at the restaurant had simply said "sorry", just once. When the server came back to the table, my friends asked him about the rolls and his response was "Oh, you didn't know there was bacon in them?". Um, no Captain Obvious, I must have missed that article on the cover of the paper that you think let the entire world know that there is bacon in your rolls. Again, maybe we just have a bad server, fine. Walking out, the hostesses asked how our meal was. One of my friends casually slipped a comment about the bacon, so we explained to her what had happened so she knew what we were talking about. Her response was just "Oh. . weird". Again, ok maybe we just happened to get the one bad server and one bad hostess at the restaurant. Fast forward to Bloom closing. A manager with Fox called me to reschedule an office luncheon we had scheduled at Bloom for my work. They suggested moving the lunch to Modern Steak. I informed her that one of our employees had a very bad experience there as she is Kosher and no one told her there was bacon in the rolls. Her response was "that's only at dinner, there is no bacon in the rolls at lunch". On top of all this terrible service, the food was not even good. And I am not just being swayed by my bad experience, even two of the other girls at our table talked about how disappointing their entrees were.
