| - Terrible terrible company to its core! Please read entire review as it will tell you all you need to know. Just google AHS lawsuits and you will find a myriad of suits against this company and all business practices that they have been sued for, they still practice assuming 99% of people wont waste their time suing and if they do.
First off, I have had them for 2 years now (since I purchased my home). Since then I have had a total of 5 claims filed (if memory serves). I will try not to be too completely biased with my review of the events
First- Fridge, died within 3 months of my home purchase. Upon review of the claim, they denied it for improper maintenance. Fridges, depending on the model, need to have their coils cleaned once or twice a year as they get dirty. Well apparently the previous owner did not clean the coils (which is not my fault my any means and why most people buy warranties is because they don't know how the items were maintained) so the claim was denied. Upon me escalating the claim with the representative she was extremely rude and said "why would we cover this, were not the reason you fridge stopped working." Are you kidding me, this woman clearly did not know the purpose of a warranty. After about almost two months I reached out to a lawyer friend of mine that informed me that this practice was normal for AHS and that we will just take them to court for breach of contract. I let the company know I was pursuing this and within a week I got a call saying the re reviewed my claim and it was now approved to be serviced.... I wish I could say it went smooth after this but no... so after they approved the service of my fridge they assigned a contractor that took about a week to come by. The contractor confirmed that the compressor was done. I asked when they could get a new one installed or a what and they said that they could not do the work since they do not work with refrigerant. So AHS assigned another contractor, which took about another 4-5 days and when he showed up he also said that he didn't work with refrigerant lines.... I call up and lose it on the rep and ask why they sent two contractors that do not handle refrigerant for a refrigerator claim and the rep could not give me any reasonable response. Finally they get a major appliance company to come by and pick my fridge up for the compressor install which took almost 2 weeks. Finally after about 3 months, after I purchased a secondary "back up" fridge and lost about 400 dollars worth of groceries, my refrigerator was back in working order. I did not continue pursing a legal route since it wasn't worth the money or time and my fridge was working.
Claim 2 and 3 were simple and just took forever for really small issues.
Fourth- Stove, This too was a awful experience. The tech came by and looked at the stove and and said it was an item with one of the burners. He came back a couple days later installed the new part and left. The stove was still not working so I called and had then send the tech back. The tech came back and could not identify what was wrong. So AHS sent another tech which also didn't didn't know what was wrong and said that they only people that would be able to help would be a tech specializing in that particular manufacturer. Finally they send another company by and he identifies that the control board was malfunctioning. Two weeks later the stove is good. Total time was almost 2 months.
Fifth- (which I am still process with) is my refrigerator again is not working. I made the call on Friday at 3pm. It has been 4 days now and no contact yet and per Dena, a rep i called on Saturday to expedite and she informed me under no circumstance do they expedite claims which is crap.
To summarize, you can expect this company to do amazing if the claim is really small and costs nothing and even in the simplest of claims, it will be weeks or even months before the issue is remedied. If it is any major repair (which is why you'd want one) then expect to have the claim denied (would say about 75% of the time), Expect to be on the phone for, literally, hours and be spoken to like you worthless trash. This company (and most home warranty companies) incentivise contractors to not want do any major work item and to classify items as maintenance deficiency, or by some technicality not a part of the contract. They will use the most questionable contractors, who have even told me that they've been advised to make an items appear as maintenance related or even repair an item just enough that it works temporarily and mess up something else in it so that they can try to claim it was pre existing down the road. I have spoken to other acquaintance contractors at reputable companies and they confirmed these allegations and advised those were primary reasons they don't work with them.
Most warranty companies are bad so it like trying to pick the least rotten egg but this company is the worst by far
