  • After my last aesthetician moved, I was on the hunt for a new one. When one of my co-workers (who is super anal when it comes to cleanliness, etc.) recommended Lily at Ide Mania, I figured I couldn't go wrong, so I went in for a facial. So you know, this is more a of hair salon that has a room where Lily does facials. No big deal, just make sure you have your expectations set. I was surprised that the room seemed a little cluttered and messy (several old glasses sitting around in front of an old stereo with Lily's red lipstick on the straws), but for a good facial for only $40, I'm willing to overlook some things. The facial was fantastic! My face felt hydrated afterwards, and I thought Lily did a great job of explaining what she was using. Also just FYI, Lily does not use steam, just hot towels. Again, no biggie, just setting expectations. After my facial I went home and did some cleaning, looked in the mirror later that evening, and noticed that my face had started breaking out in hives and was VERY red! I was obviously having an allergic reaction to something that Lily used on my face. That night I applied some Benadryl cream, but woke up Sunday morning and it had gotten worse. I got up first thing in the morning to pick up some Benadryl pills and took those all day. Of course I ended up missing a Super Bowl party because I was asleep all day and I didn't want to scare the guests. I woke up Monday morning and it still wasn't getting better, so I made an appointment with the dermatologist (see my review for Dermatique) that morning. With some medication, it has finally cleared up, which makes me very happy. I did call Lily Tuesday morning when they opened and told her what happened. She was very nice and provided me with the information about the products she used on my face. I obviously canceled a future appointment I had made (I'm just paranoid now). So my $40 facial turned into over $100, when you factor in my $50 dermatologist co-pay and medications. :(
