  • I am torn when it comes to reviewing the Birkdale Fitness Center. The Center and what it has to offer is very nice. There is a large free-weights and nautilus machine area, with plenty of room and machines so you don't have to wait forever. There is a nice full-court basketball gym, separate rooms for abs work and exercise classes, an indoor pool and nice, spacious locker rooms. Now, the bad part: its expensive and the management is a little annoying. You can expect to pay $59.99 a month, and depending on the so-called 'deals' they are offering at the time, you may or may not be able to pay month-to-month. They ask you to sign long-term contracts, which makes it difficult to commit to the place. Other gyms in the area offer month-to-month options, and are far less expensive, usually on the order of $30-$40 a month. While Birkdale may offer some of the best faciilities, for me, the price and annoying nature of the employees at the management level cancels it out. If price is a concern, there are definitely better options in the area.
