| - We have been customers with Affordable Maids for several years. There were always things we were a little bummed about - they seemed to never come at the time they said they would, sometimes the cleaning was shoddy - but overall they were very sweet people and they cleaned our house so it was fine.
Then, one day, a newer member of the crew decided to PICK UP a large glass clock we had been given as an anniversary gift. I'm not sure what would possess you to try to pick up a LARGE, GLASS CLOCK, but nevertheless, this is what this person did.
Of course,it was dropped and it shattered, and they threw away all the pieces. I came home to what was left of this beautiful and meaningful gift sitting next to a penciled "I'm sorry" note. No phone call, no offer to repay, just "I'm sorry!".
So I call the company, very upset, and for the next two weeks I'm led on a wild, infuriating goose chase. They will not reimburse for the cost of the clock - it's "not what they typically do". I went back and forth with their customer service person for two freaking weeks, only to get brushed off and made more and more angry! They finally agree to send me $100 (not in any way the full cost of an irreplaceable gift), but I'm expected to sign a full release and essentially a gag order saying I will not say anything bad about their company EVER.
WTF.
What terrible customer service. A broken item is just a thing, but the way this issue was handled was an utter embarrassment for Affordable Maids. I'll check back when I see how difficult it is to cancel service.
Lousy, unacceptable treatment. Not worth a damn.
