  • The problem with Bar Ape is I want to get gelato here ALL THE TIME; after all, they have rotating flavours and some flavours are only available for a short amount of time (best to check their social media accounts to know what's available!). It's a good thing that I don't live near it, otherwise... Bar Ape is my absolute favourite spot for gelato, I'll even make the drive for it when there's a flavour I want to try. Their gelato is on the soft serve side, creamy yet more sorbet-like than traditional, creamy gelato. The gelato is flavourful, it's like you're eating the fruit(s), but in gelato form. We recently tried the passionfruit and guava; the passionfruit flavour was prominent and tart on its own, but the guava mellows it out. These guys know what they are doing, creating bold and complimentary flavours. Bring cash, $5 will get you one if the best frozen dessert you'll have in the city.
