Tonight was my third visit and the first time I ordered food. As I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I drank water and received minimal attention. Upon having a "real" pub beverage and ordering food, service was great. I had Snake Bites, which are deep fried and spicy boneless chicken pieces served with veggies and dip. I quite enjoyed this and the serving size was perfect. I must also add that my pint of Rickard's White was tasty. With draught beer, you just never know when you might get a stale one.
This is a big pub and appears clean enough. The benches could use a bit of padding (clearly my rear doesn't have enough) and they sit pretty far back from the table. It's very roomy but could be a bit more comfortable. I don't know if all bench seats in the pub are this way.
I'm never a fan of restrooms in the basement. Alcohol and stairs are not a good combo and I do actually believe I heard someone fall down somewhere in the pub tonight. I even heard groaning over the music. Also, restrooms far from staff seem to get less attention and/or more abused. The ladies restroom was surprisingly clean but the doors are battered.
All in all, it's a handy and respectable pit stop if you're in the neighborhood.
