| - When you're feeling a bit too conscious to make the drive of shame to Brusters, frozen yogurt is a good alternative. I love these self-serve yogurt shops that offer a variety of different choices and an even wider range of toppings, and at a less guilty feeling than the regular ol' ice cream shop.
The store itself is a bit small, and had maybe four tables at most to sit at. You just walk in, grab a bowl, and help yourself. I went with a little bit of the vanilla bean, pomegranate and peach, while the miss' combined key lime with coconut. The vanilla was pretty good, and definitely had more of that "vanilla" flavor that you associate with ice cream as opposed to the vanilla flavor you get with plain yogurt. The peach was definitely my favorite and had a nice fresh taste to it. The pomegranate was decent but the flavor was a bit too light and didn't really come out all the way. I also enjoyed my little taste of coconut and key lime, which says a lot since I am not a fan of coconut.
As for the toppings, they had plenty of choices from the sinful (like sour patch kids and chocolate sauce) to the more natural (coconut flakes and fresh fruit.) I topped mine with chunks of kiwi, mango, strawberry, white chocolate chips, and this weird little thing called "mango bola." It looked like fish roe, in that they were these tiny, shiny, jellied balls. I wasn't a big fan though as they felt and tasted weird when you bit into them. Just stick to the fresh fruit!!!
Not only do you want to watch how much you put in your bowl so that you don't take more than you can eat, but you also pay by the weight of your bowl. You simply bring it over to the cashier, place it on the scale, and they tell you how much to pay. Simple as that.
If you're looking for a healthier, refreshing snack/dessert/lunch, 4th meal/ whatever, frozen yogurt is the way to go. Red Mango will definitely fulfill that craving.
